The Overlord operation embroidery - museum masterpiece realised by the English artist Sandra Lawrence in 1972 - is a contemporary equivalent to the Bayeux embroidery.  It's made of 34 panels large of 90cm each. 24 meters of embroidery show in detail, the Allies Normandy landing.

The making of the Embroidery

Conception and realisation of the embroidery :
A huge historical documentation (records and phototographs) enabled the artist to stick to the historical events of that period. Many preparatory sketches were necessary before the painting of final watercolours, which were used as boards for the embroidery.
